Sandeep Sidhu has been a proud resident of Woodstock for nearly a decade, where he and his wife are raising their two young children.

“My educational background is in Police Foundations from Sheridan College, and my professional journey spans over two decades in logistics, security operations, and small business ownership as the operator of Woodstock Duct & Carpet Cleaning.”

Outside of business, he has a passion for community sports and youth development.

“I founded the Oxford Youth Cricket Academy to provide structured local sports opportunities for young people, the Oxford County Cricket Association league for adults where 12 teams participate (six local and six from surrounding areas)and one of the local teams, Woodstock Royals Cricket Club, which I play myself in and manage. I worked with the city to bring a cricket ground, which recently opened up at Cowan Fields Sports Complex, along with basketball and pickleball courts. My vision is to keep youth and adults connected to on-field playing sports to stay fit rather than being on screens at home.”

As a first-time candidate running for Woodstock City Council, he is seeking a council spot to serve as a strong, accessible voice for our community.

“I am running because our city is growing rapidly, and we need grounded, practical leadership that keeps residents first. Woodstock isn't just where I live—it is where my family, my business, and my heart are. I want to ensure that as our city expands, we maintain a safe, affordable, and vibrant environment where families can thrive and young people have every opportunity to succeed.”

He added housing and fair taxes are two key issues for council to deal with along with responsible fiscal management.

“Balancing growth while keeping property taxes fair and ensuring attainable housing options for local families. Financial sustainability by expanding our local commercial and industrial tax base, specifically through tech and light industry attraction, to ease the burden on residential taxpayers.

Sidhu added other issues facing the city is public safety and healthcare access by modernizing local policing and security tools, while advocating for county and provincial partnerships to recruit family doctors and expand healthcare incentives.

“Youth infrastructure and senior care are also critical. Investing in youth development, recreation spaces, and accessible senior programming to support all generations living in Woodstock.”

He added he brings a diverse combination of hands-on community service, business operation experience, and practical knowledge in logistics and public safety.

“My commitment to voters is straightforward: to listen, represent, and focus on delivering practical solutions rather than political rhetoric. Whether working with local government to establish new community recreation facilities or operating a local business, I have proven that I know how to turn ideas into tangible results for Woodstock.”
