More than 100 young players took to the diamonds in Shakespeare this summer as part of the Shakespeare Community Athletic Association's (SCAA) Learn to Play baseball program.
The program gives children their first introduction to baseball, helping them develop basic skills, teamwork and a love of the game in a fun and supportive environment.
For decades, volunteers with the SCAA have organized baseball and soccer programs for young athletes in the village during the summer months. The Learn to Play program continues that tradition by providing an opportunity for the community's youngest players to learn the fundamentals of the sport.
The program featured five colour-coded teams this season, with players proudly wearing jerseys made possible through the continued support of the Shakespeare Men's Club, which provides the shirts each year.
