By West Northumberland Independent staff
A 16-year-old youth has been arrested after Cobourg police say they investigated a sexual assault involving another youth earlier this year.
Back in July 2026, the Cobourg Police Service’s criminal investigation bureau reportedly initiated an investigation after receiving information that a youth was allegedly assaulted in the Town of Cobourg.
The investigation led to an arrest on Monday, Oct. 26, and a 16-year-old subsequently charged with sexual assault, said police.
The accused was released on an undertaking under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and is due in Cobourg court at a later date, reported police.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
No other details were released by police.
