Raid leads to 2 arrests, seizure of suspected cocaine: Northumberland OPP

Northumberland OPP says police have taken about 25 grams of suspected cocaine off the streets.

According to OPP, two people were recently charged after a drug-trafficking probe led by the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit, with help from OPP’s canine unit.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, police said they arrested two individuals in Campbellford.

At the time of the arrests, officers allege they seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and cash. One of the accused individuals was also found to be in possession of a prohibited device, reported OPP.

Meanwhile, police said a third individual was also taken into custody on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

Subsequently, officers said they executed search warrants at two residences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. During these searches, police said they found another individual wanted on an outstanding warrant and seized an additional quantity of suspected cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, officers said they seized about 25 grams of suspected cocaine, $345 in Canadian currency and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.

The probe led to a 37-year-old Campbellford resident charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police said a 46-year-old Campbellford resident was also charged with possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

None of these charges have been proven in court.

Both of the accused are due in Cobourg court in November 2026.
