Pic-Nic in the Park returns for another successful afternoon in Tavistock

Music, dancing, good food and plenty of fellowship once again brought the community together for the second annual Pic-Nic in the Park at the Queen's Park Pavilion in Tavistock.

Held on a beautiful Thursday afternoon last week, the event was organized by Don and Connie Junker and attracted residents, families and friends for an afternoon of entertainment and socializing.

Guests enjoyed lunch prepared by Sheri Bell and the staff from Tavi-Chill Ice Cream and Deli Bar before taking to the dance floor as live music filled the pavilion.

Entertainment was provided by the dynamic duo, Dianne and Gary, formerly of the Country Cavaliers, along with local fiddler Steve Todd.

The trio kept the crowd entertained with a selection of classic country favourites that had many audience members singing along and dancing throughout the afternoon.

Organizer Don Junker said one of his favourite parts of the event is seeing families, friends and neighbours spending time together.

"I really like seeing families coming together, along with many friends and relatives, having a relaxing time socializing," Junker said.

Residents from The Maples and PeopleCare Tavistock also attended the event and joined in the festivities.

Lunch was capped off with Kawartha Dairy ice cream for dessert, helping make the afternoon another memorable community gathering.
