The Optimist Club of Petersburg is inviting local children to take part in its annual Pumpkin Giveaway on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Thanks to a generous donation from Herrle’s Country Farm Market, children can pick out their own pumpkin at Bechthold Home Improvements, located at 1239 Notre Dame Dr. in Petersburg, between 9 a.m. and noon.

After choosing a pumpkin and carving it at home, participants are encouraged to take a picture of their creation and email it to petersburgoptimists@outlook.com by Oct. 30. Please include the child’s first name and age. All entries will receive a prize.

Club president Warren Bechthold said the event is a simple way to provide a fun activity for children in the community.
