PDHS Celebrates Class of 2026
Paris Independent Staff
Paris District High School celebrated the achievements of its 2025-26 graduating class during its annual commencement ceremony held Oct. 15 at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford.
The ceremony brought together graduates, families, educators and guests to recognize students' academic accomplishments and mark an important milestone in their educational journeys.
Superintendent of Education Dina Atanas addressed those in attendance, while Principal Kristy Johnson delivered the principal's message, acknowledging the graduating class as students prepared to embark on their next chapters. Mazin Yosif delivered the valedictory address.
In addition to celebrating the graduates, the ceremony recognized students for outstanding achievements in academics, leadership and community involvement through the presentation of commencement awards.
Among the evening's top honours, Canaan Sherbino received the Principal's Leadership Award, donated by the Paris Lions Club. The award recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership within PDHS and the broader community, contributed to student organizations and maintained an academic average of at least 80 per cent.
Aris Motrea was presented with the Governor General's Academic Medal for achieving the highest academic average across Grade 11 and 12 courses, while Violet Lamont received the Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award in recognition of exemplary contributions and outstanding achievement through volunteer service.
Sydney Kipp and Aris Motrea were also recognized as Outstanding Graduates, an honour awarded by school staff to students who have attended PDHS for at least two years, maintained an average of 80 per cent or higher and actively participated in extracurricular programs.
