Ultimate Frisbee
The Panther co-ed team, which had a very successful season last year, finished this season with a AABHN final loss against BCI. The team still qualified for CWOSSA, and avenged their loss to BCI by defeating them in the final to become CWOSSA champions. With this win, they will travel to Kingston to participate in the Ontario high school championships, starting on May 26.
Boys Lacrosse
In its third year, the Paris Panther Lacrosse team has improved not only in its on-field play but also in the number of students interested in participating. In fact, Coach Rockefeller has a squad of non-roster students who have little or no experience playing the game, but practice with the team, gaining experience for the time they replace graduating students.
On May 15, the Panthers were in Brantford to face St. John’s in quarter-final play. Being down 1 goal at halftime, St John’s went on to win the game 13-8 and move into semi-final play. Paris finished the season with three wins and four losses.
Girls Rugby
Having watched this team over the past three years, one thing stood out immediately: this year’s roster had a noticeably younger look. In fact, the majority of the lineup was made up of Grade 9 and 10 students, which could be a promising sign for the future and a testament to the depth of talent coming up through the program. Ending the season with a 2-1 record in their pool, they met Holy Trinity and defeated them 30-5 in quarter-final play.
Next up was a semifinal match against Assumption College, which they lost 48-7. Regardless of this result, the Lady Panthers move on to compete in the “AA” tournament at CWOSSA in Shelburne on May 25.
Girls and Boys Soccer
The Lady Panthers competed in the North Division of the AABHN and finished with a 2-4 record, qualifying them for a spot in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, they were defeated 7-0, ending their season.
On the boys' side, they had a 1-5 record, which didn’t qualify them for playoff action.
