Weapons call results in scolding and education

Provincial police received reports of people with firearms at an abandoned business on Highway 59 near Salford Road in Norwich Township on the evening of Oct. 3

Police attended the scene and located nine individuals with BB guns. There was an increased police presence while officers completed their investigation and it revealed that they were making a video. Police say they were educated on the safety and legal requirements of handling items that look like firearms in public.

The Oxford OPP wants to remind the public there are specific safety measures, permissions, and notifications that are required to be made in advance, if fake, replica or prop firearms will be visible to the public.
