OCCA hold annual family BBQ at Pittock

The Oxford Caribbean Community Association (OCCA) welcomed families, friends, and supporters to its 6th Annual Family BBQ, held Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pittock Conservation Area. The event once again delivered a lively celebration of Caribbean culture, community connection, and summertime enjoyment. Guests arrived throughout the afternoon to take in the relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. Attendees set up lawn chairs, shared food, and enjoyed the warm weather as the event unfolded. DJ Fyre kept the energy high with a mix of Caribbean rhythms and crowd pleasing favourites, creating a vibrant soundtrack for the day. Families took part in new games and activities introduced for this year’s event, giving children and adults plenty of ways to join in the fun. Organizers emphasized the BBQ’s role in strengthening community ties and celebrating cultural diversity across Oxford County. Donations collected during the event supported OCCA’s ongoing cultural programming and outreach initiatives. The afternoon offered a blend of great food, music, and social connection, with guests mingling, relaxing, and enjoying the easygoing summer vibe. As the event wrapped up, OCCA volunteers expressed gratitude to the community for its continued support and participation.
