Northumberland OPP weekend recap

From charges laid after a crash, alleged impaired driving and a disturbance, here’s your latest Northumberland OPP rundown after last weekend.

COLBORNE RESIDENT CHARGED AFTER TWO-VEHICLE CRASH:

On Aug. 15, 2026, at about 1:40 p.m., police said emergency crews responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Main Street in the Municipality of Brighton.

After speaking with one of the motorists involved, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation, which resulted in a driver being taken into custody and transported to a local detachment, reported OPP. Further investigation resulted in additional charges, added police.

As a result of the probe, police said a 53-year-old Colborne woman was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, dangerous operation, driver motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, driving while under suspension, failure to have an insurance card, driving with liquor readily available, using an unauthorized plate, and operating an unsafe vehicle.

The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash, noted OPP.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CALL IN CRAMAHE LEADS TO CHARGES:

On Aug. 15, at about 12:15 a.m., OPP said a caller contacted police out of concern for the well-being of a family member operating a vehicle on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe.

Officers said they found a vehicle matching the description provided on County Road 30 in Brighton. After speaking with the motorist, an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in an individual being taken into custody.

As a result, police said a 34-year-old Manvers Township man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while prohibited and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)

Police added the accused had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

DISTURBANCE INCIDENT:

On Aug. 13, 2026, shortly after 3 p.m., officers said they were verifying an individual’s compliance with a court order on Bridge Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

During the interaction, a disturbance allegedly occurred, resulting in the person being taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, police said a 60-year-old Campbellford man was charged with causing a disturbance and failure to comply with a probation order.

None of the charges in the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
