The Municipality of Port Hope will welcome a new addition to its senior leadership team in August.
Port Hope has announced the appointment of Michael Pahor as the new director of corporate initiatives, effective Aug. 4.
Pahor will lead the newly formed corporate initiatives department, which encompasses the environmental remediation and communications divisions. The department will also oversee corporate initiatives focused on community and customer experience, Indigenous relations, business optimization, grant development, and strategic plan implementation.
“I am excited and privileged to be joining the team at the Municipality of Port Hope during such a dynamic time for the community,” said Pahor, in a statement.
“I look forward to bringing my experience and passion to the municipality, and to continuing to build strong partnerships, capture new opportunities, and celebrate the rich traditions that make Port Hope so special.”
Pahor offers Port Hope more than a decade of experience in public policy, governance, environmental management, and stakeholder engagement across the municipal, nuclear and energy sectors.
Most recently, he served as director of regulatory strategy, at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), where he led Indigenous and public engagement initiatives, supported regulatory approvals and impact assessment processes, and provided oversight of corporate governance and enterprise risk management programs.
“Michael brings a strong track record of building relationships, advancing important initiatives, and achieving meaningful outcomes for communities,” said CAO Mike Melinyshyn, in a media release.
“His expertise in public policy, governance and stakeholder engagement, along with his collaborative leadership style, will be invaluable as we move forward. I am excited to welcome him to the senior leadership team and look forward to the contributions he will make to our organization and community.”
Pahor holds a master’s degree in public policy and governance from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto and a collaborative program certificate in environmental studies.
Throughout his career, Pahor has secured millions of dollars in funding for infrastructure, recreation, library, and cultural initiatives, while advancing strategic priorities through strong partnerships and community-focused leadership, the municipality noted.
