Friendly rivalries and community spirit filled the South Huron Recreation Centre as the third annual charity hockey tournament returned.
The tournament, which was held Thursday, April 9, brought together teams from Huron Tractor, Jayden’s Mechanical, Huron Motor Products, the McCann Group, Baker Holdings Corporation and Delta Power Equipment for an evening in support of the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre.
By the end of the tournament, more than $15,000 and over 2,000 pounds of food were donated to the local charity that provides food and other items to food banks and agencies across the region.
This year’s event continued to play on the good-hearted jabs and rivalries that the tournament has become known for in the community.
The first matchup between the McCann Group and Jayden’s Mechanical started with the teams trading shots on the ice, but McCann found their stride and pulled off a solid 5-1 victory by the final buzzer.
Baker Holdings Corporation, a new addition to the roster this year, came out the other end of their game with a sizable 5-1 win over Huron Motor Products.
The tournament wrapped up with a faceoff between Huron Tractor and Delta Power Equipment. Coming off a loss in the 2025 tournament to McCann, Huron Tractor’s players pushed even harder for a win this year, coming out ahead 5-3 against Delta.
In a social media post, Huron Tractor said the evening was about “community, coming together and showing up for something bigger than ourselves. From the players on the ice to everyone in the stands, the support for the Huron County Food Bank was incredible.”
Organizers also thanked the businesses and individuals who contributed to the fundraiser.
“Your generosity made a meaningful impact,” said Jenn Case of Huron Tractor.
