Lincs add scoring punch with Owen Bruining signing

With approximately a month remaining until their home opener Sept. 11, the St. Marys Lincolns have boosted their offensive attack with the addition of Owen Bruining.

Bruining, a 19-year-old native of Barrie, was acquired from the Newmarket Hurricanes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Bruining split the 2025-2026 season with the Hurricanes and the King Rebellion, totalling 17 goals and 41 points in 52 games.

Over the last two seasons, Bruining’s production has remained consistent, posting a near-identical stat line in the 2024-2025 campaign, scoring 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points in 52 games.

General manager Pat Powers told the Independent about the dynamic Bruining adds to the Lincolns’ offence.

“Owen (Bruining) is a proven goal scorer at every level that he has been at,” said Powers. “He will provide us with some high-end offence from the right side of our forward group. Owen also adds veteran leadership and experience in big games from playing in the OJHL championship series last year.”

Powers added the acquisition further cements the Lincolns’ forward group as being highly experienced and skilled.

“As far as our forward group goes, they are an extremely deep and veteran group with some very talented young guys sprinkled in,” Powers said. “We will definitely be able to roll four lines out on every single day and hopefully tire the opposition’s defenders.”
