The City of Woodstock said it has been made aware of a planned power outage in the area on Sunday, Oct. 18, from approximately 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.

As a result, approximately 14,000 Hydro One customers in Woodstock and Oxford North will have no hydro during that time.

Affected Hydro One customers will be notified via an automated phone call or text.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming outage through the following actions:

• Ensure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position

• Fully charge cellphones and other devices

• Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone so morning alarms aren’t missed

• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and use a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage

• If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking

• If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents

If driving during these times, please be aware that traffic signals will not be operational. Drivers are reminded to treat every intersection with a non-functioning traffic signal as a four-way stop.

Hydro One customers not yet registered for outage alerts can sign up on the Hydro One Outage Map page https://www.hydroone.com/power-outages-and-safety/stormcentre-outage-map?bodyOnly=true/. Customers can also call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.
