Have your say on future trail network for Northumberland County Forest

Northumberland County is working on a trail network study related to the future of Northumberland County Forest’s trail network and is calling on the public to attend an open house.
The county is undertaking the trail network study to develop a clear vision and framework for the future of recreational trails in the Northumberland County Forest, stated officials, in a recent release.
The public is invited to learn more about the study and share feedback from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 555 Courthouse Rd. in Cobourg.
County staff said the study will assess the existing trail network and identify opportunities to improve, expand and refine trails to better meet the needs of residents and visitors, while considering environmental considerations and forest management priorities.
A trail network study is a formal planning document that looks at the existing trail system, how trails are being used and opportunities to improve the network over the next 10 years. The study will build on previous planning work, including Northumberland County’s 2009 trails network study and the 2021-2041 forest management plan, explained staff.
Trail users and residents are invited to drop by the open house and/or visit the county’s website for more information about the study and to sign up for project updates at https://joinin.northumberland.ca/.
