Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) is pleased to welcome a new Student Research Assistant to its Team, Yilong Zhang.
Zhang completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where he developed a strong foundation in biochemistry and statistical analysis.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo. Zhang’s master’s research focuses on evaluating a health screening and education program for volunteer firefighters in rural communities.
Zhang has a strong passion for community health and well-being and is eager to contribute his time and skills to supporting the needs of the community.
During his time with Gateway CERH, Zhang will contribute to existing programs by collaborating with other research assistants, community members, and stakeholders.
With a specific focus on Gateway CERH’s BRAVE-Firefighters program, he will be supporting the study design, data analysis, and evaluation of the program’s impact on rural volunteer firefighters' health.
He is excited to become part of the Gateway CERH community and can’t wait to take on this new journey with the team.
