Foxboro Green golfers raise more than $20,000 for HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre

Sixty golfers teed up at Foxwood Golf Club on Aug. 13 as part of the annual Foxboro Green charity golf tournament to benefit HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre.

The event also included a 110-item silent auction and a barbecue dinner. The tournament raised a total of $20,750 for HopeSpring.

The winning team in the tournament were all members of the Maue family. Gus and Audrey Maue are Foxboro Green residents; Gus is a well-known golf pro who once owned Foxwood. The Maues were represented by grandkids Carter Maue, Abbey Maue, Merrrin Manser and daughter-in-law Margo Maue.

A total of 71 Foxboro residents and local businesses signed up as hole sponsors for the tournament.

The Foxboro Green charity golf tournament has been run for as long as there has been a Foxboro Green – approximately 32 years. This year’s tournament was organized by a committee of Foxboro residents that included Tony Egan, Paul Solomonian, Neil Campbell, Julie Morris and Paul Knowles. More than two dozen Foxboro residents volunteered during the day.
