Fatal house fire on Parr Line under investigation

Investigators were still on the scene of a fatal house fire on Aug. 10 in the afternoon.

An Aug. 10 house fire on Parr Line south of Varna has resulted in the death of an 82-year-old.

According to Huron County OPP, emergency crews responded at about 2:45 a.m. to a reported structure fire in Bluewater.

Police said emergency services were able to successfully contain and extinguish the fire, but crews found one individual inside the home who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Parr Line property was a busy scene in the afternoon on Aug. 10 as investigators continued to work around the home that was visibly damaged.

The Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service were taking part in the investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death.
