Eight local youth will take centre stage during the opening ceremonies of this year’s Wellesley Fall Fair as they vie for the title of Wellesley Junior Fair Ambassador.

The 2026 Wellesley Fall Fair gets underway Friday, Aug. 28, at the Bill Gies Recreation Centre, where the new junior ambassador will be selected as part of the opening-night festivities.

Open to youth between the ages of 12 and 16, the Junior Fair Ambassador competition provides young people from the community with an opportunity to become involved in the fair and represent the Wellesley Agricultural Society.

This year’s eight contestants are Madeline King, 14; Riley Purdie, 15; Isabella Barker, 13; Aaron Wiles, 13; Zaid Alqaisi, 12; Madison Hernandez, 16; Caroline Byerley, 13; and Braelyn MaKenzie, 13.

Residents from Wellesley and the surrounding area are encouraged to attend the opening ceremonies and show their support for all eight contestants as the 2026 edition of the Wellesley Fall Fair gets underway.
