Crash involving vehicle, motorized wheelchair in Port Hope leads to careless driving charge

The Port Hope Police Service says an investigation into a crash involving a vehicle and motorized wheelchair last month has wrapped and a careless driving charge has been laid.
According to police, the crash happened on Aug. 13, 2026, and involved a vehicle and motorized wheelchair in the Jocelyn and Cavan streets area, with both travelling eastbound on Jocelyn Street.
The operator of the wheelchair was sent to hospital with minor injuries, reported police.
On Sept. 4, the service said their investigation has concluded with the driver of the vehicle charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
This charge has not been proven in court.
No other details were released by police.
