Cobourg police say they’ve charged a 48-year-old Cobourg man with weapon and probation-related offences after patrol efforts in the downtown area.
On Aug. 14, 2026, at about 3 p.m., while on general patrol, police said they observed an individual in the company of a person he was prohibited from associating with under the conditions of his probation order.
As a result, the 48-year-old Cobourg man was arrested, reported police, adding that during the arrest, officers allegedly located three prohibited weapons, including two spring-assisted knives and a set of brass knuckles.
The accused was subsequently charged with seven counts of failure to comply with probation, three counts of possession of a prohibited device, and three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
