Cobourg honouring champions of inclusion, accessibility

The Town of Cobourg is calling on residents to help recognize people, businesses and organizations championing inclusion and accessibility in the community.
The town’s accessibility advisory committee is now accepting nominations for the 2026 accessibility awards.
The new accessibility awards program is designed to celebrate businesses, residents, organizations and youth who are championing initiatives that create a more accessible and inclusive community for residents of all abilities, the town has announced.
Community members are invited to nominate Cobourg residents, organizations or businesses who have made positive contributions to accessibility during the past three years.
The nomination period is open until Aug. 31.
To qualify, nominees must:
Be a Cobourg resident, organization or business
Have demonstrated accessibility contributions within the past three years
Not have accessibility-related responsibilities as part of their paid role – unless demonstrating exceptional contributions outside formal job duties
To nominate a person, business or organization:
Review the award categories and select the most appropriate category
Complete the online nomination form
Include all required information as outlined for the accessibility awards program
Submit the nomination form by Aug. 31 via email to clerk@cobourg.ca, in-person at 55 King St. W., or mail it to 55 King St. W., Cobourg, ON, K9A 2M2
Award-winners will be selected by the Town of Cobourg’s accessibility advisory committee, legislative co-ordinator, and the clerk based on one or more of the following criteria: Built environment, customer service, education, employment, and/or information and communication.
Nominations that are incomplete, lack sufficient detail or do not meet award criteria may be deemed ineligible and not considered by the selection committee, the town noted.
