City of Woodstock releases advanced voter turnout

If early numbers are an indication, the City of Woodstock could have a high voter turnout for the 2026 Municipal Election.
Since voting opened, over 5,500 eligible voters have cast their ballots through a combination of online voting and in-person advance polling opportunities. In 2022, a grand total of 9,442 ballots were cast through the advanced voting period and on Election Day.
Turnout for the 2022 election in the Friendly City was only 27.7 per cent, while 2018 saw 31.4 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot.
“For the first time in Woodstock's history, voters have the option of participating through a hybrid election model, allowing residents to cast their ballot either online or in person. The introduction of online voting in advance polling has provided voters with a secure, convenient, and flexible way to participate in the democratic process from anywhere,” explained a city press release.
Residents who have not yet voted still have time to make their voice heard.
“Online voting remains open 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. on October 25, allowing eligible voters to cast their ballot from home or on the go,” added the release.
Voting day is Monday, Oct. 26, when polling locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and eligible voters may vote at any of the following locations:
• Goff Hall (381 Finkle St.)
• Algonquin Public School (59 Algonquin Rd.)
• Cowan Sportsplex (895 Ridgewood Rd.)
• Unifor Hall (126 Beale St.)
