The Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County (CAS Oxford) is pleased to recognize Oxford County’s official proclamation of Thursday, Oct. 29, as Dress Purple Day, joining communities across Ontario in raising awareness of the importance of child and youth safety, well-being, and community support.

This annual provincial campaign, organized by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS), aims to raise awareness about every child and youth’s right to safety, well-being, and early support systems.

This year’s theme, "It Takes a Community," shifts the focus toward collective responsibility, reminding Oxford County residents that individuals, families, educators, and social service providers must work together to create a strong network of care. The Dress Purple Day campaign emphasizes that child welfare is about more than reactive protection—it is about proactive, early intervention and supporting vulnerable families before crises occur.

“Every child and young person deserves to feel safe, valued and connected to their community,” says Tina Diamond, Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County. “That sense of belonging is strengthened when organizations, families and community members work together. Dress Purple Day reminds us that supporting children and youth is not the responsibility of any one organization. It takes an entire community, and we are fortunate to have so many partners in Oxford County who share that commitment.”

CAS Oxford is calling on all businesses, schools, organizations, and residents to show their support on Thursday, October 29, 2026, through the following actions:

• Wear Purple: Dress in purple clothing or accessories on October 29 to visibly signal to children, youth, and families that they belong to a community that cares.

• Join the Conversation: Share photos and messages on social media using the hashtags #DressPurpleDay2026 #ItTakesACommunity, and #HereToHelp to spread awareness.

• Promote Awareness: Share campaign messages through internal newsletters, digital boards, or local community proclamations.

• Learn and Talk: Talk with family, friends, or coworkers about child and youth rights and how community connections help families before challenges turn into crises.

If you have a concern about the safety or well-being of a child or youth, or if your family needs support, please call the Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County directly at 519-539-6176 or toll-free at 1-800-250-7010.
