A herd of grazing buffalo near Kingwood has become a familiar sight that often prompts passing motorists and horse-and-buggy travellers to take a second look.

The western buffalo, quietly grazing in a lush pasture northeast of Millbank, appeared right at home as they soaked up the summer sunshine alongside their spring calves.

The animals remained calm as they grazed, seemingly unfazed by curious onlookers stopping to admire them or take photographs.

With plenty of fresh pasture and room to roam, the herd offered a striking reminder of a species more commonly associated with the Prairies than rural Perth County.
