Local children don’t have to travel far to enjoy the fun of summer camp. Breaking Elements Dance Company in Tavistock is giving young dancers the opportunity to dance, create, play and make new friends during its upcoming Summer Dance Camp.
The K-Pop Demon Hunters-themed camp will run Aug. 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with families able to register for individual days or the full week. The camp is open to children ages five to 12, and no previous dance experience is required.
Throughout the week, campers will take part in dance classes, themed crafts and games, as well as outdoor activities at the park and splash pad. While the K-Pop Demon Hunters theme will provide plenty of fun, organizers Brooklyn Ross and Emma Haggitt say the goal goes beyond that.
“More than anything, we hope the kids leave camp feeling confident, included and excited about dance,” said Ross. “We want them to discover that they can be creative, try new things and be themselves.”
Ross and Haggitt also hope campers make new friends, create lasting memories and leave the camp excited to dance again.
There are currently eight to 10 campers registered, depending on the day, but there is still room for additional participants.
Families can register online or contact Breaking Elements Dance Company by email at breakingelementsdc@gmail.com.
The studio is also preparing for its 2026-2027 dance season. Classes are available for dancers of all skill levels, including beginners who have never taken dance before. The new season begins the week of Sept. 21, with registration already open.
Breaking Elements offers jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, acro, lyrical, contemporary and tumbling at recreational and competitive levels. Classes are available for ages one-and-a-half through adult, with programs for both beginners and experienced dancers. The studio also offers KinderDance and Tumble Tots for its youngest dancers.
Breaking Elements Dance Company is owned and operated by instructors Ross and Haggitt. Since opening its doors in 2024, the studio has experienced significant growth, beginning with just 20 students and now welcoming more than four times that number.
The studio has received a strong response from the local community, with many dancers considering it a second home.
“It means so much to us to provide local children and families with a welcoming place to learn, grow, build confidence and create lasting memories through dance,” said Ross.
We’re always coming up with new ideas and ways to help our dancers grow and are always learning and growing as dance teachers,” shared Ross and Haggitt.
“We’re most excited to welcome everyone back, watch our dancers grow, build confidence and create new memories together throughout another amazing season,” said Haggitt.
For families considering dance for the first time, Ross and Haggitt encourage them to give it a try.
“Dance is a wonderful way for children to build confidence, make friends, stay active and discover something they truly love,” they said. “Our studio is a welcoming place where every dancer can learn, grow and have fun, no matter their experience level.”
