The Craft and Vendor Show at Avondale United Church will give visitors a chance to try tasty treats, browse about local vendors, and maybe even finish their holiday shopping far ahead of time.
Avondale United Church will host its annual Craft and Vendor show on Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature around 50 vendors selling items like fudge, jewelry, indoor and outdoor home décor, handmade greeting cards, crochet animals and other knit ware, children’s books and sketches. There will also be representatives from companies like Avon, Pampered Chef and Norwex selling everything from cosmetics to kitchen items to cleaning supplies.
The Craft and Vendor Show will even have a vendor booth selling skull-themed items, just in time for Halloween.
“There's close to 50 vendors. We're still working on a couple more that have said they want to be in it, but we have some really cool vendors,” said Susan Wigan, one of the co-organizers of the event.
The Craft and Vendor show will take over five rooms inside of the church, with Cricut feet made by one of the vendors leading the way to each room.
Ken’s French Fries will also be there in the church’s parking lot off of Huntingdon Avenue and there will be a bake sale run by congregation members.
The Craft and Vendor show will also have a penny sale where each vendor donates an item representing their business. Guests can purchase raffle tickets to put in a bag next to the item they’d like for a chance to win it in a draw done at the end of the day.
The event is free to attend but donations of items and cash towards Avondale’s Food Shelf are encouraged and appreciated.
"If everybody brings something then we just load up the grocery cart that we have. Last year, we actually collected three grocery carts full of stuff so that was really cool,” Wigan said.
