2 Cobourg residents charged after $21K drug seizure

Northumberland OPP says officers have taken about $21,000 worth of suspected cocaine off the streets after a drug bust in Cobourg.

The drug-trafficking probe was spearheaded by the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit. Back in July, OPP said the unit launched an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Northumberland County.

On Aug. 12, 2026, police reported arresting two individuals in Cobourg, and at the time of the arrests, officers seized about 15 grams of suspected cocaine and cash. A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant was subsequently executed at a Cobourg residence (police didn’t identify a location.)

As a result of the raid, police allege they seized about 250 grams of cocaine and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.

“The combined quantity of suspected cocaine seized has an estimated street value of approximately $21,000,” said OPP, in a recent update.

Additional cash and cellphones were also seized, added police.

As a result of the investigation, police said a 38-year-old Cobourg resident was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Further, police said a 55-year-old Cobourg resident was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

None of these charges have been proven in court.
