100 years of supporting Canada's Veterans

2026 marks a once-in-a-lifetime milestone: a century of standing with Veterans, strengthening communities, and honouring the memory of those who served.

Founded in 1925 at the Unity Conference, the Legion began with a clear mission — to support Veterans, advocate for their rights, and ensure the act of Remembrance continues. On July 17, 1926, the Legion was officially incorporated by a special Act of Parliament, now recognized as its anniversary.

During the 100th Anniversary, all new members can join The Royal Canadian Legion for free in 2026. Your membership will help strengthen the Legion and its support for Veterans and their communities across the country. Plus, there are several great ways to get involved and have fun.

When you sign up for your free membership and renew for 2027, you’ll be automatically eligible to win a Ford F-150 in the Centenary year sweepstakes.

The Woodstock Legion is also holding a 100th Anniversary Gala on Dec. 18 to celebrate not only the Canadian birthday but also the Woodstock branch’s 100th birthday.

The branch is asking local businesses in the community for donations and support for the event and other functions taking place at the branch this year to honour the Veterans who helped make this country what it is today.

“A lot of people know our branch contributes to many community programs like Cadets, youth and education, and other Veteran support programs,” explained the Legion.

“Sponsorship opportunities come in many forms. One is with a special gift for our event draws, another could be with a monetary donation. Funds received will be used to support programs for Veterans, their families, and our community,” it added.

All donations will be recognized, and companies that support the event will have their logo added to the Legion’s event program as well as being acknowledged on social media platforms.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step forward and support the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 for its 100th anniversary.
