Charges laid after vehicle theft and unauthorized credit card use


Police received a report of a wallet being stolen from a vehicle parked at a business on Houser’s Lane in Woodstock on the morning of June 21.

An investigation determined that an individual had allegedly entered the vehicle and removed a wallet containing cash, bank cards, identification, and other personal items.

Police were able to identify the accused and arrested a 46-year-old Woodstock male in the area of Peel Street and Wilson Street and charged him with theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle and use of a credit card.

He was released with a future court date.


Assault at city business leads to charges


Police were contacted regarding an assault that had occurred at a business on Dundas Street in Woodstock on June 25.

Police say a male attended the front entrance, despite previously being trespassed from the property. The suspect allegedly became aggressive toward an employee who had asked him to leave and allegedly kicked and spat at the employee and struck them with a metal sign.

A 40-year-old Woodstock male has been charged with entering a premises when prohibited, assault and assault with a weapon. The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions.


Drug possession charge laid following traffic stop


An officer conducted a traffic stop on a rental vehicle on College Avenue on June 25, which led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Woodstock man.

Police identified a passenger in the vehicle and determined he was wanted on outstanding warrants held by other police services. During the arrest, officers searched a bag and located a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

The male was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance and was released pending a future court date.


Motorcyclist Charged Following Collision in Woodstock School Zone


Police responded to the area of Warwick Street and Cambridge Street for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on June 27.

Multiple people witnessed a motorcycle travelling on Warwick Street at a high rate of speed in a school zone. The driver lost control near a bend in the road and crashed onto the lawn of a nearby residence.

Police said following the collision, the driver allegedly attempted to leave the scene with the motorcycle but was stopped by residents in the area. Police arrived and arrested a 29-year-old Woodstock male and charged him with dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, and driving without a license.


Impaired Driving Charges Laid Following Citizen Report


A 49-year-old male faces charges after police responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Norwich Avenue and Pattullo Avenue on June 29.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later parked at a residence on Caen Avenue with a male in the driver’s seat who appeared to be asleep. The Woodstock man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation.

The accused was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
