Tavistock Community Health Inc. (TCHI) received a major boost toward its fundraising efforts last week thanks to a generous donation from the Opti-Mrs Club of Tavistock.

Representatives from the longtime community service club presented TCHI board members with a cheque for $5,000 in support of the organization and the Tavistock medical centre.

Members of the Opti-Mrs Club said supporting local health care was an easy decision given the important role the medical centre has played in the community for decades.

With Tavistock continuing to grow, club members said access to health care close to home is more important than ever for local families.

Having raised their own families in and around Tavistock, Opti-Mrs members understand the value of maintaining strong local medical services and ensuring residents continue to have access to nearby doctors and health-care facilities.

TCHI board members expressed appreciation for the continued support they continue to receive from local residents, businesses and community organizations as fundraising efforts continue.

The organization is currently working toward its fundraising goals in support of local health-care services and future medical needs within the community.

TCHI representatives also reminded residents about the organization’s upcoming golf tournament fundraiser scheduled for Friday, June 19, at River Valley Golf Course near St. Marys.

Registration forms and additional information are available through TCHI board members or online through the organization’s website.
