Paris Duffers: Fiery putts and barefoot birdies battle for the milk

Well folks, another round for the Paris Duffers is in the books and, to say the least, it wasn't pretty. On a very hot and humid day the heat was turned up even more with a lot of fiery putting. Before we go further it should be clarified that the first nine holes are for the purpose of scoring for the Burford Men's League. That is only the warm up for the main event. The battle for the milk! This is the serious side of golf as two teams, randomly chosen, battle in a nine hole best ball scramble. That is what we focus on in this column.

The first group out was Hoogs and Dino up against Kopper and Big Al. Soon after the start of the round Dino found an interesting way of avoiding losing his milk money by exiting early. Although I will not elaborate on his secret we hope he doesn't try it again. 

This left the others as a threesome so they challenged our other three man team to fight it out. Good move on their part as they easily handled the likes of Bergy, Beats and Fever. This despite the fact that Barefoot Bergy ditched his footware regularly in an attempt to change the momentum. Or he just likes the feel of grass on his toes. 

Next, Brownie and Double G refused to take strokes against Cutter and Enzo. Big mistake as they were outplayed by the dastardly duo who kept picking each other up for the entire competition. Brownie managed to hit all the targets he was aiming for if, in fact, he was aiming for trees, ponds and 150 yard markers. 

Finally Big Ferg, and Big Mac (there's a lot of nicknames that have big in them) fell to Haybo and Jacquer not with a band but a whimper. Seems this one was over quickly as Jacquer and his putter would not be denied. Sometimes it's good sportsmanship not to run up the score boys. Just sayin. On the plus side Mac did a great John Daly impression by hitting three hundred yard bombs from the tee. Sure kept Enzo on his toes.

On such a humid day all were in agreement their favorite hole of the day was the nineteenth where the plotting and strategy has already begun for next week. Quote of the week belongs to Cutter who said "Beats is the best range player". IYKYK. Have a great week and keep em in the fairway.
