North Ward Junior Baseball Team loses hard fought quarterfinal battle

The North Ward junior baseball team delivered an exciting and determined performance throughout tournament showcasing resilience, teamwork, and skill in every game.

The Junior 3-Pitch tournament, held at Green Lane Sports Complex, featured 13 teams from across Brant County and Brantford. The action began with a tightly contested opening matchup, where North Ward battled hard to earn a 2–2 tie against St. George Team 1. Despite the pressure, North Ward held its ground defensively while capitalizing on key scoring opportunities to stay even with its opponents. The result set the tone for a competitive run.The team truly found their stride in the third game, delivering their most dominant performance of the tournament. With an impressive 9–4 win against Glen Morris, North Ward showcased their offensive power, stringing together hits and consistently applying pressure. Their ability to score, combined with solid defensive execution, earned them a decisive victory and secured their place in the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal matchup, North Ward once again demonstrated their determination and competitive spirit. Facing a tough opponent (Ecole Confederation), they battled through every inning in what became a low-scoring, hard-fought game. The team matched, pitch for pitch and play for play, keeping the game within reach the entire time. Despite their relentless effort, North Ward came up just short in the final inning, falling 2–1.

While the loss marked the end of their tournament run, the team’s performance was nothing short of commendable. Their journey featured grit, teamwork, and a refusal to give up. Qualities that defined their success both on and off the diamond.

North Ward can take pride in a strong showing that included a tie, two well-earned wins, and a deeply competitive quarterfinal performance. Their effort and sportsmanship were evident throughout, leaving a lasting impression and setting a high standard for future seasons.
